Let there be Light!

Good morning all...and no I haven't gone all religious on you!

Part three of my photography course "A Year with my Camera" started this week and we're now talking about light. This weeks homework was to take several photos of the same object with the light source coming from different directions.

Frozen World

Good morning all.

No snow to speak of here but we've had three days of heavy frost, the garden has looked quite magical...although I'd still like to see some snow!

Telescopic Lens

Good morning all.

I love seeing the birds and and other wildlife in our garden so I needed a telescopic lens to get close enough. I decided a cheap one would do for starters and opted for the XC 55-230mm. With the birds now flocking to the feeders on a regular basis I've been putting the lens through it's paces.

Kit Lens

Good morning all.

When I bought my camera two weeks ago I chose the XF 18-55mm lens as part of the deal as opposed to the cheaper XC 16 -50mm. At first it felt very odd having all that weight on the front of the camera body but I'm getting used to it now and all in it only weighs about 750g....a sizable jump from the 230g of my XF1 but not as weighty as my sons Nikon which comes in at a hefty 1190g!

Third Time Lucky!

Good morning all.

Monday night was scheduled to be a humdinger for aurora watchers...however the weather decided not to play ball over most of Scotland and we also had the super moon to contend with.

I persuaded eldest to go shooting with me yesterday so we went out late afternoon to catch the last rays of light at a local beauty spot..."The Bridge to Nowhere".

Good morning all.

#1day12pics takes place on the first Saturday of the month, so yesterday I chose to photograph all the plants still flowering in the garden. Friday night we had a really hard frost but yesterday was quite mild...the garden is more springlike than winter at the moment.
